HS code for chocolate / sweets

The usual six-digit HS code for chocolate / sweets is 1806.90.

Extra EU rules: Chocolate and sweets containing milk are products of animal origin; personal-consignment rules restrict B2C imports.

What this means for EU orders

Since 1 July 2026, parcels worth €150 or less sent to EU consumers pay a flat €3 customs duty per item, where an item is goods sharing one tariff classification. Several of the same chocolate / sweets in one order usually count once (€3). Add a different kind of product and it is another €3.

From 1 November 2026 the declaration also needs product identifiers: your SKU, a manufacturer reference, and a barcode (GTIN/EAN) if the product has one. Handmade goods without a barcode are declared with the "no standard identifier" code.

Where to put the code

Keywords DutyReady uses to spot this product: chocolate, candy, fudge, sweets, toffee.

General information, not legal or customs advice. Six-digit HS codes are the same worldwide; the EU adds digits (CN 8-digit, TARIC 10-digit). Confirm in the EU TARIC database or with your carrier for unusual products. Last reviewed October 2026.
